Working with Students

Over the past decade, in addition to my other private practice work, I have been working as a lead counsellor and psychotherapist at a highly successful, creatively-led London University, as part of the Student Services team.

Young people in Higher Education have pressures on a whole different level to the ones I remember as a Uni student in the Eighties. Despite this, they are frequently labelled harshly for displaying any signs of 'not coping' and are often told that mental health issues were never a problem back in the day, when people 'just got on with things'.

From what I have seen first hand over the years of working with students in Higher Education, these young people actually show a level of resiliance and maturity that I am continually inspired by.

The 'modern age' of fast-paced computer-based learning, social media, the high cost of accommodation and living expenses, juggling studies with part-time jobs to supplement Student loans . . . on top of the inherent and more familiar challenges of living away from home of loneliness, stress of exams and generally trying to find their own sense of self and place in the world - can easily induce social anxiety, low self-esteem, disconnection, depression and a whole host of mental health issues that are very real and sometimes quite devastating.

I offer a concessionary rate for Student Counselling, which can be found on my Rates page and will offer further concessions, depending on individual circumstances.

Unsolicited recent testimonial from an ex-student:
"Corah is truly amazing! She has been an incredible support, guiding me through some of the toughest moments of my life. Her down to earth and holistic approach has been life changing. She is so understanding and makes you feel comfortable from the start. Corah always goes the extra mile and is extremely dedicated to her clients. Most importantly, she genuinely cares about the people she helps. I wouldn't be the person I am today without her guidance and support. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking compassionate and effective help."
